They have a need to compliant, cooperative, and agreeable, not just in the presence of their significant others, but with nearly everyone else in their lives.
Abandonment survivors of childhood are often compelled to merge with the needs and expectations of others. Emotionally they’re unable to tolerate any break in their connections, even with casual acquaintances.  Instead, they accede to whatever the other person expects from them. Their own identity is submerged in the need to be loved. When someone else breaks a connection, even a casual connection, the rebuff can be devastating.”
